More Information

Welcome to my style portfolio!! I am currently a senior at the Apparel Merchandising & Management (AMM) department at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, CA. I am very enthusiastic and a hard worker who is always seeking new challenges to keep myself motivated and fresh. On my style portfolio I have my resume attached & images of previous designs and class work I have done as a fashion student.

ABOUT ME
I will be graduating fall 2013 with my bachelors of Science in Apparel Merchandising and Management. As excited as I am it is becoming serial that I will have to find a professional job where I will be able to grow at my full potential with a company. I have interned for many companies such as “Ross” as assistant buyer, “The Notice Network” as a Marketing intern & design intern for “Holly Morgan Designs”. I have experience as a production coordinator, showroom manager, assistant buyer, marketing intern, and fashion show production. The reason I have intern for different position is because I would like to know what career path I will be taking after graduation.
I really enjoy styling photo shoots and also making jewelry as a hobby. I like to be creative and keep myself busy by volunteering at fashion shows to help out back stage as well as style photo shoots. I also attend many networking events in Hollywood where I have the opportunity to meet many professionals in the fashion and entertainment industry. I believe networking is a major key to be successful in the industry and I like to attend as many events as possible.

MY COLLEGE EXPERINCE
I learned many skills from my AMM program at CPP through my classes, class work, and classmates. From this experience I learned how to be sufficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, AIMS, building my resume and most importantly working as a team with my classmates. I learned how to get along well with many different characters and personalities and also how well I get along with everyone. I am very adaptable and flexible with my schedules so I always made myself available to meet my team for our projects.
As a person I want grow to work independently but also be more of a team player. I want to acquire more knowledge of the industry as I start working and going from one job to another. I’m sure that after years in the industry I will adapt better to stress and just know how to respond better in unexpected situations.

FUTURE PLANS
I am seeking apparel production in the future with a well know company with good work ethics but also where they will allow me to grow and evolve as a person in the company and for the company for many years. I have taken many production courses as an undergrad where I acquired much knowledge and skills of the production industry but I have also worked for about a year as a production coordinator for a women’s line called Hodges Collection in Los Angeles. It was until then where I learned hands on experience in apparel production. It was a tough job but I enjoyed it. I learned how to make decisions when something went bad in production. I learned so much about myself like how well I handle stress and realized I work better under stress.
I am currently interning as an assistant buyer for Ross Inc. buying offices in LA and it’s another branch of the fashion industry that I have yet to learn. I look forward to this experience because it’s different from production and I enjoying learning different aspects of fashion. I would like to try everything before I graduate so I know where I belong.

GOALS
Short-term: A short term goal of mine that I have until graduation in Spring 2014 is to intern with many production companies, retail companies, as well as an online retail company so I can have a better understanding of the different careers there is in the fashion industry. This will give me a better idea of which career path to take.
Long-Term 5 years:
1. In 5 years I look forward in being part of a great production company as a production coordinator where I can continue to grow as an individual but also with the company.
2. In 5 years I look forward in being part of a great retail company as a buyer where I can continue to grow as an individual but also with the company.
Long-Term 10 years:
3. In 10 years I hope to be in charge of overlooking the production of a large manufacture where I can grow with the company and built a strong team to support me.
4. In 10 years I hope to be head buyer of a great company where I can travel more, but also hire and train new comers in the company and be an example of a great company.

COLLEGE COURSES
-AMM 491/492 – Apparel Production Simulation
In this class we were broken into team and we had to produce a line for our bookstore. We designed from scratch the styles and artwork for screen printing, made our own sizing chart by using our body scan machine, marketed our line on social media, and work with manufacture to produce line and meet deadlines on time. I was part of the sizing team and we body scanned 45 females and 35 males from campus. After gathering our data from our target market we developed five custom sizes XS-XL. I learned how to work the body scanner but also how to read the date and break it down to explain to class what it means. It’s an experience that I know I will use in the future since body scanning will be very popular and in many retailers.
-AMM 112 - Illustrator
I was taught basic illustrator that I was able to use in all of the rest of my AMM courses. Illustrator is an important program I used in every course and will help me in the future work for many companies that use this program. I have uploaded many images of my designs and line sheets I made using Illustrator.
