HAUTE COUTURE. RUNWAY. BOHEMIAN. Each of these words were a source of influence in the creation of my personalized six-piece collection. For the design elements I borrowed, I mainly used the inspiration of the white background to create a larger contrast on the bold color choices of each design. This is similar to the website design of the Pura Vida company, which uses colorful pictures on a white background to draw emphasis on the use of multiple different color hues and combinations. However, I also used the landscape choices from Bohemian Collective to inspire the use of a pristine background that strengthens the message of the design. Bohemian Collective contains detailed backgrounds that show great thought process, because each one provides contrast to strengthen the spotlight given on the model. I found the perfect location to convey this message was to use the streets of Greece, which are lined with cobblestone streets and white buildings with little pops of colors for detail. Additionally, the layout of the scattered models of the street draws the audiences’ eyes across the page from each to every design. In the end, Greece ended up being the perfect location to highlight the use of color, detail, and texture on the models/garments and fully completed all the aspirations I had associated with my unique six-piece collection.
