Linea O, New York, NY (2007-2008)
Contemporary Women’s Wear
DESIGNER

Reporting directly to Creative Director as designer with accountability to design a collection of contemporary women’s wear and to revamp the once knit tops only brand to a complete ready to wear collection that includes, woven and knit tops, bottoms, dresses and jackets. Responsibilities include directing all phases of collection design and development from-market research, fabric sourcing, fashion/flat sketching, fittings, draping and sample making to production. Managed a team comprised of pattern makers, sample makers and interns.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
-Implemented a successful design strategy that transitioned Linea O from a tops’ only line to a complete contemporary ready to wear collection.

-Designed and developed trend right contemporary pieces that were well received by the buying public and for the first time, top retailers such as Bloomingdales and Nordstrom picked up the label.

-Led a major successful Re-Branding of Linea O, including website development and brand identity development such as logos, hang tags and labels.

-Garnered notable mention in WWD and Daily Candy.

Reporting directly to TV personality Nicole Murphy, responsibilities include line development from initial concepts, mood board creations, design sketches, fabric sourcing and selecting, wash and lab dip approvals, sample making and pre-production. Design responsibility included Women’s contemporary Knitwear and Swimwear.

ACHIEVEMENTS:
-Defined collection aesthetic comprising of contemporary knit tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets and swimwear that garnered instant media attention and launched the label as a viable contemporary brand to the buying public.

-Debut capsule generated instant following on Twitter, Facebook and Nicole Murphy’s official website.

-Successfully implemented company’s first standard design process/tools to run the label more cost effective, efficient and leaves less room for error.

Recruited as the company’s first designer with accountabilities in directing all phases of design and line development process from concept and inspiration to final samples. Design responsibilities include a limited collection of business wear, business casual wear, upper casual wear and outerwear for Men and Women.
