Responsible for all aspects of product development from trend research and material sourcing to product design and merchandising in the Home Furnishings, Crafts, and Gifts markets. Product included but not limited to: bedding, tabletop, decorative pillows, craft, and seasonal items.
Invented and patented a Ribbon Embroidery product for the craft market that sold one million dollars in advance orders on the first day of its trade show debut.
Conducted new product and trend presentations to major retailers both at their corporate headquarters and at New York market showrooms. Clients included Wal-Mart, Target, Sears, J.C. Pennys, Michaels, Jo-Ann Stores, and others.
Travelled frequently to China to source goods, tour factories, conduct quality control checks, review product lines, and interact with suppliers. Communicated daily with overseas suppliers, tracked containers, and managed QC sample process.
Travelled domestically and internationally to conduct trend research and attend seminars at shows such as: Heimtextil, Maison et Objet, Paris Biennale, De-Co Valencia, IFFE, High Point Market, and Color Marketing Group.
Designed and supervised installation of two permanent market showrooms in Atlanta and New York as well as created and installed travelling booths for international and domestic trade shows. Designed and supervised installation of showroom three times a year for the New York Home Textiles market.
Designed and supervised installation of a new 35,000 sq. ft. furniture showroom from the ground up. Including researching demographics and sales history, choosing inventory, planning product placement, overseeing installation of merchandise, and supervising store decorating crew.
