SKILLS:

•6+ plus years of industry design experience in; high-end leather goods, high-end fashion accessories, fashion apparel, textiles & home wares and children’s accessories.

•Experience in developing product directly with factories in China and Hong Kong, have travelled to these countries and have many years experience of successfully creating suitable design specifications for the factories to work off given in some instances a language barrier.

•Possess a thorough understanding of the development process from concept through to bulk production of approved designs with the ability to think three dimensionally, sketch by hand, colour reproduction skills, fabric / swatch selection and substitution where appropriate..

•Ability to read and create product specifications, prepare design presentations, prepare sample prototype job bags for dispatch to overseas manufacturers and find creative, professional solutions to design and construction problems. Ability to make initial prototype mock up sample: cutting, skiving, table work, stitching, as well as working knowledge of leather goods manufacturing equipment.

•Have design experience with fashion accessories, everything from belts, scarf’s, jewellery, hats, small leather goods and soft furnishings, including children’s accessories.

•High-end designer level experience with excellent taste level, strong colour sense, fashion minded with the ability to forecast future trends, global sourcing, shopping experience, commercial sense, market knowledge and connections with high-end suppliers and factories.

•Global research and development for seasonal trends, themes, concepts, colour, fabric, styling and apply market/trend information. Involved some overseas travel.

•Experience in designing handbags & luggage with the ability to execute designs from concept through product development processes to final bulk production of approved styles.

•Knowledge of handbag construction, material costing, textiles & leather manufacturing processes, metal hardware, man-made materials as well as other materials used in accessories.

•Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with international manufacturers and suppliers ensuring correct product execution. Strong listening skills and experience assimilating product feedback.

•Experience in fast paced team oriented environment with proven organisational skills and strong interpersonal skills. High level of attention to detail and product execution. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritise and manage workload with multiple deadlines. Demonstrated proactive thinking and problem solving ability.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

·Possess very good computer skills ranging from general business administrative skills to design skills for creation of artwork, embroideries, prints, specification sheets, logos, website design, ETC.

·Working knowledge of CAD software, PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR, DREAM WEAVER and FRONTPAGE.
·Working knowledge of Microsoft platform like EXCEL, WORD, ENTOURAGE/OUTLOOK,
·Working knowledge of SEAMS, MYOB, SCOT WEAVE (PC) and POINT CARE (Apple Mac)
·Working knowledge of other general computer & Internet skills.
