My name is Mariajose Pineda, best known as MJ. I'm an international student from Honduras, the heart of Central America. I'm double majoring in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Sociology. Being a Latina is a large part of my identity, and I am so proud of how much my heritage offers the world. The culture, values, beliefs, foods, dances, history, traditions, and beautiful language offer much diversity.

My story in the fashion world began when I was a little girl and was heavily influenced by my role model, my grandmother. Her sense of style and confidence was a testament to age being just a number. She defies societal norms and embraces her individuality, inspiring others to do the same. She constantly reminded us that fashion is not just about clothes but a form of self-expression and an extension of our personalities.

I fully dove into the fashion industry when I traveled to Colombia, Cartagena, in 2016. Since then, I have realized that traveling plays a massive role in getting inspiration for my designs. In addition, travel is an opportunity to enrich my education in the fashion industry and to understand global trends such as jewelry, makeup, photography, colors, textiles, architecture, art galleries, museums, and even food plates from other countries.
