More Information

I have been designing for the past 5 years and am currently studying Apparel Merchandising and Management. This has made my level of experience more rounded by exposing me to multiple aspects of the industry. I have displayed my designs in 8 fashion shows and have participated in charity fashion shows for philanthropic organizations such as St. Judes Children\'s Hospital. I launched my own line which I currently sell online and have customers from all over the world. My projected graduation date from Cal Poly Pomona is March 2014. I am available for different types of work and am open to expanding my skill set.

What I wanted to get out of my experience at Cal Poly Pomona was an all encompassing education that covered the different aspects of the apparel industry. I enjoy benefiting from different learning opportunities that allow me to grow as a person by teaching me things I did not previously know.

Here is a link to the learning outcomes of the Apparel Merchandising and Management program: http://www.csupomona.edu/~amm/assessment/AMM%20PLO%20Map%20by%20Course%20-%20Apparel%20Prodn.pdf

These Student Learning Outcomes aided me in gaining insight into consumer behavior, the market trends, how the industry works and more.

Some courses that I found to be very beneficial were AMM 101, 112 and AMM 270. 101 taught us about the details of the industry and all of the various job paths we can take. 112 trained us in using Adobe Illustrator and educated us on how to design using the program. 270 provided insight into all of the work and detail orientation that goes behind merchandising and designing a store.

Being active in clubs outside of the Apparel Merchandising and Management department allows me to expand my network and meet people from other majors. I have a unique perspective to provide because of my major and this helps me stand out amongst the other students.
My internship at Shawl Dawls has been great in helping me apply my classroom knowledge to the industry.
