Associate Designer, Lafayette 148; NYC, NY - August 2006 - October 2010
- Assisted Design Director and Senior Designer for a womens bridge line known for modern feminine separates, which is sold at select department and specialty stores throughout the U.S.
- Collaborated with Senior Designer for all embellishment development for the collection each season over the past 2 years. This included the creation of beadings, embroideries, and other embellishment techniques, from concept to layout to swatches.
- Placed in charge of starting the new accessories line which launched during the Fall 2010 season, consisting of jewelry and handbags that were interpreted from the Design Directors ideas and were crafted with suppliers in Hong Kong and the Philippines.
- Followed embellishment and accessory development from initial requests to the finished samples and into the final product for production. This comprised of creating technical sketches and following up with overseas contacts with comments throughout the entire process.
- During the first 2 years of my position, I was responsible for all trim development for the collection, choosing all novelty notions and trims by sourcing within the local market, along with designing and developing with overseas suppliers in Italy, Hong Kong, and China.
- Built a working relationship with the companys manufacturing facilities based in China through constant written and visual communication. My position within the company allowed me to travel to Hong Kong and China to visit with various suppliers and representatives, shop local markets, and work directly at the factory on sample development.
- Styling experience included multiple tasks during all design fittings, preparing the showroom and collection for each seasons market appointments, along with creating and maintaining looks for customer presentations. Directed model dressing for castings and client receptions, handled the preparations and assisted in the styling for all company look book photo shoots. Set up numerous presentations and mannequin displays for company showroom and at the retail level for brand in store shops.
