ARTIST STATEMENT-- Someone who I think influenced my work this semester was Mickalene Thomas and something that influenced me is the season of spring. One thing that I "borrowed" from Mickalene Thomas would probably be the breaking up into pieces, especially in my six piece look. One thing that I "borrowed" from spring would be the different and bright colors and those would also be "totally" me. In my six piece look, I created a background with triangles and bold color. I added those to my final background because the points of those triangles moves the eyes along the paper to see the different designs. The background is very important to me because it shows contrast in colors and it stands out from the crowd. It's also very important to me because it's something people don't see very often.
