TORRID MODEL SEARCH GOES OMNICHANNEL – RetailingToday
“Plus size fashion retailer Torrid has a new model to showcase in its latest omni-channel marketing campaign. The company has announced the winner of its model search: Lyanna Lynette. The 26-year-old Southern beauty was revealed in a 12-episode web series on YouTube. The first of its kind in plus size fashion, the series follows the four finalists as they compete to become the Face of Torrid 2016. The series can be watched, in full, on Torrid’s YouTube channel.”

NATALIE WESTLING IS MODELING’S ORIGINAL SKATER GIRL AND SHE HAS THE VANS CAMPAIGN TO PROVE IT – Vogue
“Since her arrival on the modeling scene in 2014, it’s been apparent that Natalie Westling was something else. The combination of her angelic features, flame red hair, and tomboy attitude made her a favorite of Marc Jacobs, Hedi Slimane, Miuccia Prada, Tom Ford, Phoebe Philo, Nicolas Ghesquière, and nearly every other big-name designer out there, though despite her successes, she prefers to keep a relatively low profile. Her Instagram, which boasts more than 46,000 followers, hasn’t been updated in 10 weeks—basically a lifetime in Internet years—though she continues to be a model-of-the-moment, walking in exclusive shows and booking top campaigns. So what’s Westling been up to in her downtime? Skating.”

RUNWAY REVOLUTION: CAN WE TIE UNISEX FASHION TRENDS TO GENDER EQUALITY? – CNN
“When writers and filmmakers depict the future, they often include one strange detail: men and women dressing alike. From the leather coats and sunglasses of The Matrix to the faded blue coveralls of Nineteen Eighty-Four, one of the characteristics of the imagined future is a break from gendered clothing, which is replaced by something more functional and utilitarian. It’s a world of zippered jumpsuits, where a corset or tie is as exotic an artifact as a fossil from the Pleistocene Era. Gender, these futurists seem to be saying, is an artifact of a less-progressive past. But is the future now?”

THREE’S A TREND: ZIG-ZAG KNITS – The New York Times
“Men’s knitwear has experienced a much-needed jolt this season, with prominent patterns in many of the Milan fall/winter 2016 shows. At Ermenegildo Zegna, vests came in dizzying graphic prints, while at Salvatore Ferragamo, sweaters took on a more kaleidescopic effect. And, true to form, Missoni offered stripes that zigged and zagged every which way. In all, they made an especially convincing case for adventurous dressing next fall.”
