AEROPOSTALE GETS DELISTED FROM NYSE – RetailingToday
“Troubled teen retailer Aeropostale Inc. has been dealt another blow. On Friday, the New York Stock Exchange suspended trading of the retailer’s stock with immediate effect, due to an “abnormally low” trading price. Aeropostale does not intend to appeal the delisting. It said its shares will instead be traded on the OTCQX Best Market, an over-the-counter market operated by OTC Markets Group Inc. The new ticker is “AROP”.”
MACY’S CELEBRATES EARTH DAY WITH NEW SOLAR COMMITMENT – RetailingToday
“Macy’s chose Earth Day to give an update on its ongoing solar power deployments. The retailer, in a 10-year partnership with SunPower Corp., has deployed SunPower solar systems at, or planned for, 71 Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s locations in 10 states, totaling approximately 39 megawatts. Fifty SunPower systems are operating to date, and the company is contracted to install its technology at 21 additional Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s facilities this year.”
HAUTE HIPPIE TEAMS WITH NEIMAN MARCUS AND POLAROID FOR COACHELLA – Fashion Mag
“Haute Hippie teamed with Neiman Marcus last week on a Coachella-focused Instagram campaign. This collaboration is Robert Feinberg’s, president of Haute Hippie, inaugural campaign for the brand. Feinberg joined the company on March 1 of this year. Haute Hippie worked with 12 fashion bloggers, each provided with a Polaroid camera, courtesy of Polaroid, who snapped selfies wearing Haute Hippie’s latest collection, which were posted on Instagram. Customers were encouraged to engage by posting their Haute Hippie festival favorites on Instagram with the hashtag #HauteCoachellaContest. Polaroid will give a few lucky Instagrammers a Polaroid snap camera and film.”
MLB AND SUSTAINU LAUNCH 100% RECYCLED, SPORTS-LICENSED APPAREL – Fashion Mag
“SustainU, a producer of apparel made from 100 percent recycled materials, announced on Thursday its licensed partnership with Major League Baseball for the 2016 season. The MLB by SustainU line represents teams from the National and American Leagues and consists of fashion and outdoor adventure-inspired graphics. The collection aims to resonate with a new generation of fans that advocate sustainability, outdoor conversation and related social values.”
MAC CLAIMS ITS ‘VIBE TRIBE’ COLLECTION ISN’T CULTURAL APPROPRIATION – Nylon
“The year is 2016 and yes, somehow, some way, Native American “tribal” is still considered a trend. At least, that’s how MAC Cosmetics framed its “Vibe Tribe” collection, which was met with shock and complaints by the Internet. However, MAC stood firmly in its statement to the Huffington Post saying that the new release “has absolutely no connection to nor was it inspired by the Native American cultures,” but instead was “inspired by art, outdoor music festivals and the colours of the desert.” It’s hard to believe the company could be this naive when the very patterns used on the product packaging appear to be Chinle and Ganado designs—traditional Navajo weaving patterns—rooted in generations of history.”
KYLIE JENNER AND ALEXANDER WANG ARE COLLABORATING ON SOMETHING BIG – Yahoo!
“There’s something major going on between Alexander Wang and Kylie Jenner. Yesterday, Kylie’s mom, Kris, posted an Instagram of herself with Wang on set, tagging her youngest daughter and using the hashtag #SecretProject. Kylie posted her own BTS image of herself that day on Snapchat, although she made no direct reference to Wang and gave no hint about what the two might be doing together. Another Kylie snap later in the day was equally enigmatic, although the word “wrapped” would seem to imply that Kylie was at a photo shoot for Wang, and her green mesh bomber jacket is certainly very reminiscent of Wang’s spring/summer 2016 collection. A gift from Wang, perhaps? A thank-you for all her hard work on whatever it is they are working on together?”
