I am writing to express interest in the Fashion Designer, Technical Designer, and Patternmaker position. I believe my art and design background in artistic design and hands-on experience in fashion can bring some benefits to the brand. I graduated from Parsons The New School For Design with a BFA in Fashion Design, and have obtained technical design skills from The Fashion Institute of Technology. My areas of expertise are design concept development, innovative textile, pattern making, digital fashion production, fashion illustration, and fashion event planning. As a designer, I have a passion for avant-garde textile design, in which I am inspired by the richness of fashion history, important social events, and a multitude of ethnic cultures. I have developed these skills through a variety of experiences, such as working as a Fashion Designer and Technical Patternmaker at Bergdorf Goodman, CD Greene, and as a Technical Patternmaking and Design Apprentice at Dennis Basso, as well as a wide range of individual jobs and projects with different companies and clients.
My ambition and persistence have motivated me to participate in fashion shows, art exhibitions and fashion competitions. Along with scholarships and honor awards during my time at Parsons, I was nominated as Designer of the Year for my collection “Shadow Reflection.” The collection has been featured on Parsons's website, style.com, nymag.com, fashionista.com, and other media publications. The collection also received attention in the PPR / Kering Empowering Imagination Competition, Parsons Benefit Fashion Show, Parsons 560 BFA Graduation Exhibition, Saks Fifth Avenue window display, and Parsons Paris Exhibition during Paris Fashion Week.
I bring interpersonal communication skills, meticulous attention to details, and unparalleled work ethic to the creative process. For example, I use my multicultural knowledge and foreign language skills to communicate with overseas production and guide them through the intense manufacturing processes. Along with the ability to finish quality projects under deadlines, I possess a practical approach to construction and the control of conceptual and visual developments. I am enthusiastic about exploring opportunities to work in an innovative and productive environment.
