More Information

I have complemented my education with work experience in both fashion design and styling. My self-determination and passion led me to initiate my own freelance work as a fashion consultant at a young age. While freelancing, I worked closely with individual clients on wardrobe development. I provided assistance in wardrobe organization, gave styling advice, mentored clients through individual fashion image recommendations. Also, through contracted patternmaking and sewing projects, I created personal outfits for clients based on their personal image. I have learned a vast amount from this self-driven career, but one of the most rewarding lessons is working to insure that my customers/clients are receiving exactly what they want
Another aspect of my work experience that has given me invaluable insight into practices relating to the fashion industry and business management was my position as a Design Intern at the amazing company of Anna Sui in New York this past summer. While in this position I took on a vast amount of responsibilities including flat pattern correction, technical flats via Adobe Illustrator, line sheet development, fabric and trim sourcing, logo and print creation, and styling among many other things. This job allowed me the privilege of working directly with Anna, Assistant Designers, and Fabric R&D on the development of the S/S ’14 collection. I was able to assist in the communication between the designers and sample room director, and also I accompanied the Fabric R&D to meetings with fabric and trim representatives. One of the most rewarding aspects of my experiences at the company was accommodating with all aspects of the styling sessions and fittings prior to the fashion show and facilitating the head Assistant Designer with all duties backstage at the Anna Sui S/S ‘14 Fashion Show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week: Spring 2014. It was such an insightful and rewarding experience to get to play a big hand in the development of a collection from such a successful brand, as well as to see the entire process and development from start to finish. At Anna Sui, a professional environment driven by industry standard practices, I was able to execute my skills as a young designer and offer creative solutions to problems. I worked as part of a team to successfully execute a collection from beginning to end all in a timely manner in order to meet important deadlines.
My work experience has provided me with rich insights and understanding of design and business practices, as well as providing me with a vast amount of responsibilities.
