This past year I have been a resident in my hometown of Houston, Texas where I have been working as a Technical Designer then as a freelance designer & stylist. I have since relocated back to NYC this August, and began working as a Temporary Creative Freelancer at Cynthia Rowley. I am seeking to return to full time work position and settle into not just a permanent position, but a long-lasting career.
Colleagues know me as the creative, proactive, self-motivated, and problem-solving girl possessing knowledge on all aspects of the Fashion industry. Past clients have described me to be a stylish self-starter who can see it through without having to be directed every step of the way. I have also been said to be able to “think about the project or tasks at hand from all sides which helps me to address possible challenges before they become an issue.” Being naturally organized & creative, I offer “out of the box” thinking while maintaining a methodical approach to the work I do.
I have multiple skill sets in Fashion Design and a sound understanding of Design Processes. I possess Trend Forecasting & Analysis skills, Trend Pack Creation, Color Theory, Fitting, Textiles, Technical Sketching, Hand Drawn or Digital Fashion Illustrations, Pattern Making, Draping, Merchandising, Product Development Life-cycle, and Styling Skills. I was able to hone in on these skillsets while contributing as a Women’s Wear Design Intern at Luxury Brand, Oscar De La Renta and participating in Styling for A-list clientele. I worked with the Design Studio, and developed samples for mood boards as requested for the designers and also participated in design and fit meetings for projects. I also participated in New York Fashion Week, an experience which gave me the ultimate and most unique perspective on the industry!
I graduated with a B.S. in Apparel Design & Manufacturing with a strong focus on Design, Textiles, Art & Fashion History from Texas Tech University. The aforementioned experience and skillfulness have since led to proven results and product decision making in my previous design positions, most recently at Francesca's Inc. Here I was in charge of overseeing the garment development process within my categories through to production. This included Bottoms, Denim, Knits, Outerwear & Seasonal, which proved to have a large success rate in exceeding gross profit margin. I executed Fit Sessions with Buyers through each assortment to determine fit & construction changes necessary to achieve the final fit, quality and construction desired per our standard. I initiated ongoing design, color and fit research on current trends and textiles to create relevant, up to date mood boards. Also, I built development guides based on current best seller & metrics to drive results and compiled bespoke trend forecasting reports with Market relevant content giving insight into forecast trends with design direction with must-have elements alongside key design details for Buyers who used it to procure key items into our assortment each season. On a day-to-day basis, I executed the fit approval process, including tracking and following up on outstanding fabric submits, approving grading for silhouettes, measured and reviewed PP’s, Fit Samples, & TOP's against tech packs to ensure all specification and construction details were met while making necessary call outs and reviewing samples for compliance then notifying (overseas) vendors. Ultimately, I believe it is truly the culmination of my strong background combined with a quick, communicative and innovative mindset, which allows my work to come to life from concept to reality in the world of Luxury & Mass Market Fashion.
