Graduate of the world renowned Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. Is a highly-skilled and creative designer, who is energetic, ambitious, self-motivated and diligent. Her work demonstrates a deep understanding of colour, with a vibrant and fresh approach to design. Enjoys being “hands-on, is a fast learner, enthusiastic and seeks new ideas and challenges. Equally proficient with screen-printing, to computer aided compositions. Is experienced with a broad spectrum of design from high-end, to urban/street wear collections.

Work Experience:

June 9 2008-current
Pacific Optics Ltd, Auckland, New Zealand: Fashion buyer and designer.

Designer and buyer for the brands, Aerial and Zoya, as well as responsible for creating the seasonal designs for headwear and scarf range.
Buying role includes gathering pertinent information from mills such as price based on order quantity, base cloth and fabric, relevant extra charges, and lead times to complete the order. For effective purchasing, undertake comparisons between suppliers, monitoring the supplier’s progress, issuing and checking purchase orders, and the release of the sales confirmation.
Design and collection development includes, researching the up and coming trends, putting moodboards together, drafting new designs, and sourcing styles and fabrics. Integral to this is selecting and reviewing the colours for the collection. Required to liaise and present to management for approval of the range. Additional responsibility is the design of graphics and production of posters displayed in shops as well as the design of packaging and merchandise display stands for all products.

Designed women’s ready-to-wear fashion fabric prints for S/S 2009 collection. Designs created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Oct 18 - Feb 7 2007 Atom Design Studio, London: Freelance.

Created designs for various briefs, targeting urban/street wear. Produced designs for S/S 2008 and Winter 2008 collections. Designs were displayed in New York and LA trade shows.

Screen-printed pieces for Winter 2007 collection. Hand beaded, and arranged garments for clients.

May - June 2006
Mirjam Rouden, London: Freelance

Screen-printed fabrics for Christian Lacroix’s Haute Couture S/S 2006 collection. Created stencil designs, exposed designs to screens, prepared dye pastes for printing, steamed all prints, and sent all final fabrics to clients. Organized samples for Paris trade show, Premiere Vision.

Fiji Fashion Week, Fiji Islands:

Showcased two collections, ready to wear and resort ensemble. Designed the
prints and garment shapes. Created accessories such as necklaces, arm trinkets
and head pieces. Put together moodboards, sourced fabrics, and liaised with
manufacturers. Entire collection was completed well before the deadline.
Successfully secured shoe sponsorship for the ready to wear collection from Pulp
and Pulp Noir, Australia. My collections can be viewed at www.fijifashionweek.com

September 4 2009 Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion Show, Auckland, New Zealand:

Designed a three piece women’s wear collection, for which I was recognized as one of the top two designers of that category.

Designed tropical ladies tops. These were exhibited at Indigo, Premiere Vision.

March - April 2006 Polertac Company , London:

Worked on synthetic fleece and polyester fabrics (beading, soldering, and stitching) for an organized competition.
