More Information

I am currently employed as a designer at d’Oro PRIVE’ but this position is part-time and I am seeking full-time employment.

I completed my undergraduate studies at Marist College in May of 2013 with a degree in Fashion Design and Minors in Fashion Merchandising and Product Development. After graduation I spent a year in Australia on a Working and Holiday visa. During this time I had an opportunity to work with the designer Alex Perry, as well as at Camilla, and DINA Corporate.

Additionally, I redesigned old clothes into new, fun garments that were sold online and at markets; worked back stage during Australia Graduates Fashion Week; and ran back stage for designers at The Raw showcase event.

Since returning to the U.S. I have been working as a freelance designer and part time as a designer at a small design company. These two jobs have allowed me to strengthen my leadership skills and continue to polish my design skills. In my part time position I have been given the responsibility of teaching and overseeing the interns; setting up the design room; sourcing materials and mills; and developing new designs for the company’s collection.

I can sew different types of garments and am experienced at using many kinds of fabrics including knits and wovens. I have created and graded patterns as well as drawn flats by hand and on the computer.

Previous employers have complimented me on my dedication to the job, work ethic, attention to detail, creative solutions, enthusiasm for fashion, and follow-through. I enjoy challenges, always strive to learn and improve my skills, and never shy away from a tasks.

I gained experience in many areas of design through my education at the Fairfax Academy and Marist College as well as internships in the design industry, public relations and marketing. You can view pictures of my work on my blog ashleysdesigns1.blogspot.com.
