Job Seeker Pet Peeves With Recruiters

Last week we shared the results of the Recruiter Pet Peeves survey we conducted a few years back. Needless to say, the feedback from job seekers was intense and as requested, we are we sharing the results of the job seeker pet peeves with recruiters survey.

There were two parts to this survey. First, we asked fashion industry job seekers to provide their biggest pet peeves with fashion industry recruiters who work directly for the Hiring Companies. Second, we asked the same question but this time, it was directed at recruiters who work for Employment Agencies.

A quick note: Please keep in mind that most company’s recruiting budgets were cut drastically during the crash of 2009 and the “new normal” is that recruiters have to do a lot more with less. While we are not making excuses for any recruiter or recruiting agency, times are tough all over.

JOB SEEKER PET PEEVES WITH RECRUITERS (direct hire):

44% – Poor Follow-up

20% – Typecasting/Too rigid in their requirements

10% – Posting ads for jobs that don’t exist

Honorable mentions include:

– Poor understanding of the position for which they are recruiting

– More interested in getting information from the job seeker (free consulting)

Please note: With respect to “Posting ads for jobs that don’t exist,” unlike other fashion industry job listing sites, StyleCareers.com only posts ads at the request of the customer. We do not “scrape” job boards and do not “back-fill” from 3rd party sites. As a job seeker, you should be leery of websites that “scrape” or “back-fill” job listings; most have alternate agendas.
