ROSS STORES IS ANOTHER OFF-PRICE WINNER – RetailingToday
“On the heels of another successful quarter from off-price rival TJX, Ross Stores Inc. also reported a spike in same store sales for the second quarter.For the second quarter ended Aug. 1, Ross Stores says net earnings rose 8% to $259 million from $240 million the same quarter the prior fiscal year. Sales rose 9% to $2.97 billion from $2.73 billion, with same-store sales up 4%.”

UNIQLO TO TRY OUT FOUR-DAY WORKWEEK – BloombergBusiness
“Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, Theory, and J Brand, will offer a four-day workweek to about a fifth of its workforce starting in October, the company confirmed to Bloomberg. About 10,000 full-time employees at Uniqlo’s Japan locations will have the option of a three-day weekend in exchange for 10-hour work days the rest of the week. The retailer is also considering introducing a shorter week at its corporate headquarters and at more stores, if this trial goes well.”

“New York-based Madewell Inc. is recalling 50,600 of pairs of women’s sandals most of which have been sold in the U.S. and 300 of which were sold in Canada due to a fall hazard.”

Now, H&M is joining the party with their new capsule denim collection, Close The Loop.”
