Design – Only NY FashionCareerFair – F.A.Q.views: 0
Below are the answers to the most common questions we get about the Design-Only NY FashionCareerFair…
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress the way you would for any interview. Dress to the companies that interest you. When in doubt, go with the more conservative option.
The floors of the venue are concrete and many of the exhibitors’ lines will be long. Comfortable shoes are
WHEN SHOULD I GET THERE?
Candidate processing starts at 1:30pm- 2:00pm. During this time we will check IDs, issue nametags and distribute
collateral (exhibitor map, list of jobs, tote bags and various giveaway items). Job seekers who ARE NOT
pre-registered will have their resumes screened at this time. The career fair will open at 3pm.
Pre-registered candidates will be admitted before on-site registrants.
While candidates ARE NOT required to be at the venue at any specific time, the lines on the exhibit floor will be long. If your goal is to see as many exhibitors as possible, we recommend showing up before 3pm. Depending on the amount of candidate traffic at the exhibitor booths, lines may get cut off as early as 6pm; plan accordingly.
I DON’T GET OFF WORK UNTIL 5PM. WHEN IS THE LATEST I CAN GET INTO THE CAREER FAIR?
The career fair floor closes at 7pm. The last candidates are admitted at 6:15pm. If you are only wanting to see a few of the exhibiting companies, showing up after 5pm should not be a problem. There is no guarantee every company will stay until 7:00pm.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Bring at least 25 copies of your resume, a photo ID, something to write on (for taking notes) and the
Pre-Registration Document. Since this is a design- only event, EVERYONE will need to bring their portfolio and/or look book in order to be admitted.
HOW DOES THE CAREER FAIR WORK?
Upon entering the career fair you are free to visit any of the recruiting companies. There are no pre-set
interviews, candidates are met by the recruiters on a first-come, first-served basis. Feel free to visit as many companies as you wish.
While each company has their own way of working with candidates, it is unlikely that you will be offered a job on the spot. Your GOAL should be to get to the NEXT STEP in the hiring process. Making contacts for
future opportunities and networking with other industry professionals are also very important.
